Soldiers Allotted Land in Clark’s Grant


George Rogers Clark led battles against the British in Illinois during the American Revolution. As payment for the service of Clark and his men, the Virginia legislature gave tracts of land north of the Ohio River in Clark County, Indiana to them. A total of 150,000 acres were set aside for them.
